Since:

5.2078EN-0.4 This class is both: standalone servlet and contextlistener. So, the user is responsible for deciding whether to configure server (in web.xml) as a servlet or simply registered as a listener in the webapp context. This second configuration may be useful to use such background from webservices. Example for first configuration (SERVLET):
